„Türen auf mit der Maus“ with the CNSR

On 3 October 2025, the SMARTcognition Lab was represented on site with an interactive robot station as part of the WDR programme ‘Türen auf mit der Maus’ (Open Doors with the Mouse). Together with the Core Facility for Neuroscience of Self-Regulation (CNSR), we were able to give numerous curious children a playful insight into the world of science.

At several interactive stations, the young visitors gained insights into various research methods and were able to get involved themselves, from experiments to trying out various scientific devices.

The SMARTcognition Lab offered a station where children participated in a language game together with Navel, our talking social robot, and gained insight into psycholinguistic research. Following the interaction, the children were also invited to take part in a short reflection session, where they discussed how the interaction with a robot had gone and what possible applications, as well as any limitations they could imagine for such technologies.
